Thai Authorities Find Dozens of Monkeys in Bags at Abandoned House

INTERNATIONAL: Almost a hundred monkeys were found tied up in bags and hanging from poles inside an abandoned house in Thailand on early on Thursday ,February 17.

Wirom Wanalee, a villager from the central province of Saraburi, has said, she and her neighbours found the monkeys after hearing their cries. They had released most of the monkeys by cutting bags open before reporting the find to the police.

Authorities have rushed to the scene and found 29 live monkeys. One was also found dead on the street next to the house.

The police believe that the monkeys were hidden in preparation for export by a group of international animal traffickers. All the monkeys were placed under the care of the Wildlife Quarantine Center, while investigations continue.
